In 2007, 22.2 per cent of people aged 15 and over in Kitchener had not graduated from high school. This was down 17.4 percentage points from 1990. The Kitchener rate in 2007 was 1.6 percentage points above the rate for Ontario and the same as the Canada-wide rate.

IV-4 CCL Learning Index

According to the 2008 Composite Learning Index, the overall index score for Kitchener was 89, up 4.7 per cent from 85 in 2007. The 2008 score was 15.6 per cent higher than the national score (77) and 11.3 per cent higher than the Ontario score (80).

IV-6: Aboriginal High School Completion Rates

The aboriginal high school completion rate for those aged 15 and over in Kitchener was 66.1 per cent in 2006, having decreased 2.2 per cent from 67.6 per cent in 2001. The rate was 17 per cent higher than the national rate for Aboriginals (56.3 per cent) and 6 per cent higher than the rate for Ontario (62.4 per cent).
